Vietnam's central bank completes verification of digital banking accounts

HANOI, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- The State Bank of Vietnam has completed verifying more than 122 million individual and institutional customer records with digital banking transactions, aiming to safeguard customer data and curb fraudulent accounts, Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday.

All accounts have been updated with biometric information via chip-based ID cards or the VNeID electronic identification application, covering 100 percent of digital accounts.

The move is part of the government's plan to enhance banking transaction security and accelerate digital transformation.
