Vietnam's textile, garment exports hit 10.54 bln USD in Q1

HANOI, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's textile and garment export turnover reached 10.54 billion U.S. dollars in the first quarter of this year, up 2.3 percent year on year, the Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.

Garments continued to account for the largest share at 8.84 billion dollars, while fiber emerged as a standout segment, generating 1.7 billion dollars.

Cao Huu Hieu, general director of Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group, said the robust performance of fiber exports reflects the industry's improving self-sufficiency in raw materials.

He noted that greater self-reliance has helped firms optimize logistics costs and better meet the stringent rules of origin to maximize tariff advantages under free trade agreements.

Vietnam aims to remain among the world's top three textile and garment exporters and reach an export turnover of 49 billion dollars by 2026, according to the report.
