4 die from suffocation in Vietnam after using generator to produce electricity

HANOI, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Four people died of suffocation on Tuesday in Vietnam's central city of Da Nang after using a generator to produce electricity inside an enclosed house, Vietnam News Agency reported.

All eight people inside the house were taken to local hospitals, where four were pronounced dead during emergency treatment, including a five-year-old child and a 75-year-old woman, the report said.

Local authorities have urged relevant agencies to inspect residential areas, especially households using generators, charcoal stoves or other heat-generating devices in enclosed spaces, and to strengthen public communication on safe use practices amid prolonged flooding and widespread power outages.
