Dump truck collision leaves 2 dead in southern Vietnam

HANOI, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Two women were killed in a collision with a dump truck in southern Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City, local newspaper Tuoi Tre reported Thursday.

Authorities cordoned off the area, directed traffic, and collected witness testimonies while reviewing surveillance footage to determine the cause of the incident.

According to data from the Ministry of Public Security, from July 25 to Sept. 20, Vietnam recorded 1,066 traffic accidents involving commercial transport vehicles, leaving 633 people dead and 530 others injured, local daily newspaper Nhan Dan reported.
