Vietnam's power capacity ranks second in ASEAN

HANOI, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's power system has become the second largest in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) by generation capacity, the government portal reported Monday, citing an announcement by state utility Vietnam Electricity (EVN).

According to EVN, the Southeast Asian country's total installed capacity reached about 87,600 megawatts by the end of 2025, an increase of about 6,400 megawatts compared to last year. Commercial electricity output for the whole year was estimated at 287.9 billion kilowatt-hours, the report said.

Nationwide electrification has also advanced, with 100 percent of communes and 99.85 percent of households now connected to the national grid.
