BANGKOK -- ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn has urged more dialogue and consultations in addressing challenges in a speech delivered during his first working visit to Thailand from Wednesday to Saturday.

As part of the efforts to ease the tension in the region, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is actively promoting the Treaty on the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon Free Zone, he said. (Thailand-ASEAN-Speech)

VIENTIANE -- The handover ceremony of the China-aided Phiawath Complete Secondary School building has been held in Lao capital Vientiane.

Speaking at the ceremony on Thursday, Ardsaphangthong Siphandone, the mayor of Vientiane, said the school building is one of the China-aided projects in Laos, showing a deep friendship between China and Laos, and will contribute to the development of the economy, society and education in the Southeast Asian country. NEW DELHI -- India's foreign ministry said Saturday that trade between New Delhi and Kuala Lumpur can now be settled in Indian rupee in addition to other currencies.

The development followed a decision by India's central bank in July last year to allow settlement of international trade in Indian currency. (India-Malaysia-Trade Settlement)

TOKYO -- Japan on Saturday enacted the revised road traffic law, allowing Level IV autonomous driving on public roads.

Based on the four-level automated vehicle classification, Level IV self-driving cars require the least degree of human driver involvement, and are able to operate unmanned over established routes, making decisions and performing maneuvers even in emergencies. (Japan-Traffic Law-Autonomous Driving)
