VIENTIANE -- Preparations for the start of cross-border passenger services on the China-Laos Railway's Lao section are progressing well, with the new service expected to start in April, said Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith.

Saleumxay went to Luang Namtha province on Thursday and Friday, which borders China, to monitor the progress of the railway preparations, Lao National Radio reported on Tuesday. (Laos-China-Railway)

NEW DELHI -- India's overall exports, including services and merchandise, have crossed the all-time high of 750 billion U.S. dollars during the current financial year 2022-23 (April 2022-March 2023), said federal Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday.

HANOI -- Vietnam's economy in the first quarter grew at the second lowest rate in the past 12 years as weakening global demand weighed on exports, official data showed on Wednesday.

The growth of gross domestic product was 3.32 percent in the January-March period, down from 5.92 percent in the fourth quarter and 5.03 percent in the first quarter last year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said. (Vietnam-Growth)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said on Wednesday that fuel prices will be reduced in the country from March 29 at midnight.

The price of 92 Octane petrol will be reduced by 60 rupees (0.18 U.S. dollar) to 340 rupees per liter, and that of 95 Octane petrol will fall by 135 rupees to 375 rupees per liter. (Sri Lanka-Fuel Prices)
