Crimes in Vietnam down 13 pct in Q1 of 2023

HANOI, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Crimes in Vietnam decreased more than 13 percent in the first quarter of this year, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, local newspaper Vietnam News reported on Wednesday.

During the three-month period, the country's police force discovered 8,901 violations of social order and arrested 20,298 suspects, according to the country's Ministry of Public Security.

The police detected 708 criminals related to corruption and 10,889 drug-related criminals, and seized 177 kg heroin, over 1.1 tons of synthetic drugs and 419,000 synthetic drug tablets, said the ministry.

The police force were ordered to continue promoting solutions to prevent and reduce the number of criminal cases.

They were also requested to speed up the investigation of cases under the supervision of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, promptly detect loopholes and shortcomings in economic management policies, and propose solutions to overcome them.
