NEW CLARK CITY, Tarlac, July 23 (PIA) --Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) guaranteed the readiness of the New Clark City (NCC) Aquatic Center by August 2019.
The 2,000-seater facility will host the swimming, diving, water polo and artistic swimming competitions of the 30th South East Asian Games this 4th quarter of 2019.
"This Aquatic Center will be ready for use by next month as its construction is already at 90 percent," BCDA President and CEO Vivencio Dizon said during the Build Build Build Media Tour of NCC.
The facility is compliant to the global standards of the Federation Internationale de Natation- the governing body of Aquatics. It has a 10-lane competition pool, 8-lane training pool, and a diving pool with a 5-meter maximum depth.
Design of the Aquatic Center is inspired from baklad or woven fish nets of local fishermen, as well as Capiz shells used in traditional Filipino architecture.
Apart from this, the NCC Sports Complex likewise features a 20,000-seater Athletic Stadium, and a fully-furnished Athletes' Village.
"Facilities here will be the first major sports hub constructed by the Philippine government since the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex that was built in 1934," Dizon added.
The sports complex is part of Phase 1A of the National Government Administrative Center at NCC.(CLJD/CJFV-PIA 3)
