BUKIDNON, July 8 (PIA) -- Twenty-four rebel returnees from the Province of Bukidnon received financial assistance through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) during the Joint Region 10 Regional Development Council- Regional Peace and Order Council (RDC-RPOC) Meeting on June 28.

This was done in the presence of Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Sec. Jose Ruperto Martin M. Andanar, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Assistant Secretary Manuel B. Felix, Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC-10) Chairperson Mayor Oscar S. Moreno, National Security Council (NSC) Deputy Director General Usec. Rufino S. Lopez, and DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe, among others.

Through E-CLIP, the surrrenderees received financial assistance ranging from P15,000 to P105,000 depending on the benefits they are entitled to claim.

E-CLIP provides complete package of assistance to former rebels who were members of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), New People's Army (NPA), and National Democratic Front (NDF), as well as their family members, who have surrendered to the government to abandon armed struggle and become productive members of the society.

With this, Agabe said the government urges for more rebels to surrender while incentives through the E-CLIP are still available.

"I hope our rebels will grab this opportunity in starting a new life while the government is still providing financial assistance, including other necessary assistance which will be deemed necessary for them to improve the quality of their lives," Agabe said.

He assured that through the delivery of social services by various government agencies, the surrenderees together with their family will benefit from the program. (DILG10/PIA10)
