Hyundai Creta, the best selling compact SUV with the longest waiting period, can now be had with immediate delivery to buyers, depending on variant and colour selected, reveals Financial Express report.

The waiting period varies according to location with buyers in Delhi, Kolkata and Ghaziabad having to wait just a week for delivery but buyers in Faridabad, Indore and Gurugram having to endure the longest wait of two to three months.

Availability of stocks on certain variants and colours has brought down waiting period to a great extent. Express Drives contacted certain Hyundai dealers and learnt that there are chances of getting a white coloured Hyundai Creta almost immediately. However, buyers opting for the silver or grey color variants would have a longer wait.

With Venue and Creta, Hyundai aims to become largest SUV maker in India.

There could be multiple reasons behind decline in waiting period. One of the biggest could be the decline in overall sales of auto industry. Dealers are not buying new stocks, and want to clear existing stock. This has resulted in some car maker's reducing production. Launch of new rivals in the segment could also be the reason behind decline in waiting period of Creta.

But in spite of that, the Hyundai Creta is a leader in the compact SUV segment. It stood as the highest selling SUV through the month of May 2019, surpassing the Maruti Vitara Brezza which had held on to this top spot for a long time.

The Hyundai Creta, which received a mid life facelift in 2018 is now set for a second generation update. This new gen Creta is said to already be in the works with showcase being planned at the 2020 Auto Expo and launch sometime by March of the same year.

Hyundai has already revealed the new China spec ix25 which sports some exterior updates. Considering the first gen Hyundai Creta and the ix25 sported the same look, it is also speculated that the second generation of both these models will be similar.

The new Hyundai Creta will come in with larger dimensions as compared to the outgoing model. It will be better equipped where its interior features are concerned. It will be most likely offered with the same engine lineup as seen on the Kia Seltos. The new Creta will also borrow features from the new Venue. It will sport Hyundai's Blue Link technology, internet based features such as engine start, geo-fencing, voice activated commands, climate control, etc.

With the current Hyundai Creta priced from Rs.10-15.65 lakhs, the second gen model could see an increase in prices, thanks to the addition of new features. Hyundai plans to launch the new Creta in two variants of 5 seater and 7 seater.
